Why Worship at the Border Wall?
Our 2017 Pacific Southwest District Assembly is revolutionary. We thought the Worship concluding it should reflect the displacement, the experience based learning, and the embodied spirituality of the weekend while raising the spiritual stakes. We will do this by bringing our open hearts and inspiration to a place of trauma. What more meaningful consequence of our era’s fear than the wall? What more revolutionary a place to worship?
What time does the Worship start and end? Sunday, April 2, 9:30-10:45

Will there be water?
BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE AND WATER. We are endeavoring to be environmentally conscious and avoid producing excess waste.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes. We will be outdoors and moving. Wear appropriate footwear.
Is this legal?
Yes. The Border Patrol and Nogales Police Department are aware of our prayerful disposition. They understand that this is a worship service and not a protest. Our contacts at the Nogales Police Department in particular have expressed enthusiastic support for our cause.
What is the distance between the parking lot and the wall?
We will migrate from the parking lot to the location of “the service.” This a road in poor repair leading to the service site 3/10 of a mile from the parking lot. The distance covers the up and down of a small hill. The migration is an integral, embodied, and symbolic part of the worship event.
While some level of discomfort is part of this experience, we do not want anyone to put themselves in physical danger.
If you are unable to walk from the parking lot to the worship site, we will have transportation available to shuttle you there. There will also be camp chairs there for those who can not stand for longer than 30 minutes. Otherwise no chairs will be provided.
Seating?
There are only chairs for those who are unable to stand for longer than 30 minutes. Otherwise no chairs will be provided.
What if I am not comfortable walking?
There will be rides from the parking lot to the worship site for people who can not walk. There will also be camp chairs at the worship site for people who are unable to stand for longer than 30 minutes.
Why are we walking?
We are walking as ritual. We are walking to embody the sense of migration. We are walking because it is not comfortable and harkens, howsoever infinitesimally in comparison, to the journey of migrating peoples.
Will there be bathrooms?
Yes. In the parking lot where we gather. There will not be bathrooms at the location of the worship service 3/10 of a mile from the lot.
